Don’t miss these conferences, hands-on building workshops, and more!
Are you interested in learning more about tiny houses? Nothing is better than attending an in-person event or workshop. 2015 starts with a bang with the Tiny House Conference this April in Portland, OR. After that, there are a ton of great workshops, conferences, and other events put on by some of my favorite tiny house people out there!
Here are the event I’ll be attending (or that I wish I could!)
The 2015 Tiny House Conference is going to be the biggest and best conference yet! Come enjoy educational presentations from top tiny house builders and small space experts. There will be tiny house tours (several amazing tiny houses on site), workshops, panel discussions, and more! Plus, I’ll be speaking at the event!
The 2015 Tiny House Jamboree is equally promissing, with many great speakers, including Andrew Morrison (hOMe), Derek Diedricksen (of RelaxedShacks and “Tiny House Builders” fame) and the one and only Jay Shafer!
Talk to LEADERS in the industry! There will be products, food trucks, music, raffles! Plus, awesome tiny house MODELS from pro builders! This event takes place in Colorado Springs this August, and best of all, it’s FREE!
My favorite of this year’s Four Lights Workshops is definitely the 5-day hand-on building workshop taking place at The Sanctuary in Minnesota. It takes place over the July 4th weekend, so make your plans now!
Spend the week with a power-house of personalities:
- Tiny house pioneer Jay Shafer
- Tiny house consultant B.A. Norrgard
- Construction professional Daniel Bell of Daniel Bell Construction
- Building scientist Mark Thomas
Start each day with an (optional) on-site yoga class & continental breakfast. After breakfast, small groups will be formed. Then, you will rotate between swinging hammers and classroom time throughout the day.
Dee Williams and Portland Alternative Dwellings (PAD) is where I took my first workshop. It was just what I needed to learn the basics and find a community of support to help me get started building! Learn about:
- Navigating codes, insurance, and regulations
- Tiny house building necessities like securing your house to your trailer, controlling moisture, and ventilation, heating, and cooling
- Tiny house systems, including electrical, gas, and water
The PAD March Workshop is fast approaching, so sign up right away!
The Tiny Proejct construction plans offer complete blueprints to build your own tiny house — to the exact same specifications as our original modern tiny house on wheels featured on this website. Save hundreds of hours and possibly thousands of dollars!
