Learn how to get sponsorship for your tiny house

I want to share with you all an amazing resource for gaining tiny house sponsorship, written by my friend, Andrew Odom.   (scroll down to the bottom of the Tiny r(E)voliution store to find it). History In 2014 Andrew Odom of Tiny r(E)volution was answering questions daily about how he approached sponsorships and how he had managed to get so many sponsors on board of both his personal build and some project builds he had been working on. While he had been answering the questions faithfully he was also working on a book, almost a manual, if you will, that […]

Nature's Head composting toilet for tiny house

The best composting toilets for tiny houses

Waste disposal seems to be a very hot topic in the tiny house world, and I just want to weigh in on what I believe to be the best toilet options. Some people may prefer a traditional flush toilet if they can park where they will have a sewage or septic connection (usually an RV park).  But flush toilets use a lot of water and most tiny housers won’t find parking where sewage disposal is easy or possible. For that reason, the #1 solution for a tiny houses toilet (by far!) is a composting toilet. Incinerating toilets and toilets that shrink-wrap […]

The best tiny house trailer manufacturers & how to choose

Choosing the right trailer to start your tiny house build is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. When I started my house there was no such thing as a tiny house trailer. I had to design my own modification to a traditional flatbed trailer. However, that’s not the case anymore. Countless trailer manufacturers have started making tiny house trailers, hoping to make a buck or two off the tiny house craze. But not all tiny house trailers are created equally! Make sure you get a trailer by a manufacturer who has been building tiny house trailers for years, […]

Tiny House Stoves, Cooktops & Ranges

There are many options for cooking in a tiny house. If you are not opposed to using propane in your house (and are already using it for an on-demand, tankless water heater) I highly recommend cooking with propane gas. Propane is far more efficient than electricity for any heating element and in most cases leads a better cooking experience. Propane can be used in smaller RV-style ranges, marine ranges (higher quality stainless steel), permanently installed stovetops and portable cooktops. If you prefer to use electricity, one efficient solution would be to use a portable induction cooktop, which can be stored […]

Going Solar in a Tiny House

The concept of tiny house living is built on self-reliance and minimization. Transitioning to a tiny house means minimizing your space and belongings, but it also goes hand-in-hand with reducing your negative impact on the environment. It makes sense that many tiny home dwellers choose to fulfill some or all of their energy needs with a photovoltaic (PV) solar system, since it decreases dependence on utility companies and meshes with the environmental philosophy behind going tiny. The type and size of solar system you will need depends on the answer to the following questions: What’s your current energy load? Do […]
