Introducing TinyHousePlans.com: your 1-stop shop for the best tiny house plans available

We’re really excited to share a brand new tiny house resource that will make comparing and choosing the best tiny house plans so much easier. An Inside Peek at Pauline’s amazing “Hale Lehuanani” Tiny House

Years ago, Pauline Sugarman came to see the Tiny Project house when I was living in Sebastopol, CA. Since then we’ve stayed in touch and I’ve visited her house a couple times while under construction, offering any advise I could along her design/build journey. Pauline has been very private about her process until now, but the time has now come when her house is near complete and she’s ready to share it with the world. She doesn’t have her own blog or website, so I’ve asked her if I can share her photos and story myself. She’s named her house […]

Tiny house holiday gift ideas (to support tiny house dwellers)

If you’re like me, you may want to get your holiday shopping done online, support small, local business and help tiny house people who are self-employed make a little extra this holiday season. It’s a win-win to get a tiny house themed gift for you loved one and also support some really cool, independent entrepreneurs as well. I recently asked on Facebook for a list of favorite tiny house products (made and sold by those living in tiny houses) that would make good gifts. Without further ado, here’s the list!

Many factors are involved in safely towing a tiny house on wheels. Most important, of course, is the design of the house itself. This post will focus on specific safety items and tools you’ll need to tow and park a house, and will touch on some important design considerations as well. I’ve already written extensively, describing in detail my two long towing trips (2,000 miles each) and everything I did to prepare. Please read the two posts below as well to get all the details not included in this post. Towing a Tiny House (from California to Texas) Our Tiny […]

Stay at this beautiful small house in the Hawaiian rainforrest!

Shared by Shannon Victoria Mackey Small but mightily beautiful, this tiny house of 300 sq. feet is not only built in the rainforest on the side of an active Hawaiian Volcano, but it sits 10 feet off the ground allowing the perfect vantage point into the surrounding native flora. The house was built to code, is fixed to the land and uses a water catchment with a sophisticated purification system and natural gas instant water heater. However, it’s the physical design that is the most eye-catching. The floor to ceiling windows draw in the natural light and allow for viewing the […]
